First Training Ride

We were all pretty sure the weatherman promised us 63 degrees and sunny, but the Gearly Beloved ride in rain or shine (or sleet, or blustery winds, or hail).  The training officially began today, so we went on a little 18.5 mile trek around East Lansing / Bath / DeWitt.  We fought through some inclement weather, to make sure our legs and lungs are ready for for the big 100-mile event coming up in just over a month.

Training Ride #1 Route

Despite being quite soggy and numb by the end of the ride, it was still a lot of fun.  The training only gets tougher from here, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. A big thanks to all you out there pulling for us.  Stay tuned, there’s more to come in the next week or so for those of you who are curious about the route and the training.

You’ve come to the page of the “Gearly Beloved”, a group of four housemates who have decided to do a charity bike ride from East Lansing to St. Clair Shores to raise awareness about Lupus.  The money we raise will be donated to the Michigan Lupus Foundation.  We hope you’ll take a few minutes to get to know us or learn more about Lupus.  Please take the time to read through Jackie’s story and if you are as excited as we are about our 100-mile bike ride and would like to support us, head over to our fundraising page.

Keep checking back to learn more about the ride and how you can get involved. We’ll be posting pictures of our training and doing our best to thank all the people who support us.
